Exciting University Application Updates from Class of 2024

With the approaching Christmas season, Dulwich College Suzhou is delighted to share the wonderful news with our community. Our Class of 2024 students have received three interview invitations from Cambridge University and one interview invitation from Oxford University. Congratulations to our students, and we wish them the best of luck.

Moving forward, how does DCSZ support our students, and how should they prepare for the interviews? Let's hear from Mr Son, Hyuk Sang, our Director of Counselling, as he shares his insights.

First and foremost, I would like to extend my congratulations to all the students in the Class of 2024. Each of you has worked diligently and strived to achieve your goals. For the four students who have received interview invitations, they have already undergone mock interviews with the support of Dulwich College International. This process provides them with valuable experience and firsthand practice for the actual interviews.

Regarding the interview process (not limited to Cambridge or Oxford interviews), admission officers typically ask general questions as well as questions related to the chosen major. The general questions revolve around who you are, why you are interested in applying to their university, and also assess your language abilities. During these questions, they aim to understand your true self and gauge your enthusiasm for their institution. The major-related questions are specific to the field of study you are applying for, and they want to ascertain your knowledge and qualifications for admission.Mr Son was delivering a university application presentation to the parents.

In reality, all you need to do is explain your thoughts logically and display confidence. Don't try to be someone you think the admission officers would prefer. Just be yourself. Even if you are introverted, that's completely fine, as not everyone is outgoing. Simply present yourself, your passion, and your abilities. 

If you encounter difficult questions, don't pretend to know the answer or remain silent. Instead, you can respond with something like, "That's an excellent question. Let me ponder on it and do some further research. Could you provide me with your email? I will send you the answer later." Be honest and try to turn the situation into a positive one. It's not about providing the perfect answer; it's about showcasing your true self. The interviewers want to assess how you handle challenges and your reaction to them. So, prepare yourself and don't be afraid. Trust in yourself!

随着圣诞季节的到来，苏州德威外籍人员子女学校很开心和大家宣布一个好消息。我们2024年毕业班的学生目前有3位学生收到了来自剑桥大学的面试邀约，以及1位学生收到了来自牛津大学的面试邀约。恭喜学生们，预祝毕业班的学生们一切顺利！

那到底苏州德威之后该如何帮助学生呢？学生自己又该怎么准备面试呢？来听听我们大学升学指导总监，Mr Son, Hyuk Sang 的看法吧！

首先，我要先恭喜所有2024毕业班的学生们！你们每个人都非常努力并且都朝着目标迈进。而那4位拿到剑桥和牛津面试邀约的学生，德威国际学校也为他们提供了专业的模拟面试。从这当中学生可以得到宝贵的面试经验和第一手模拟面试练习。

而关于面试过程（不仅限于剑桥或牛津大学的面试），通常大学面试官会问一般的问题以及和你申请的科系相关的问题。一般的问题通常会问些你对所申请科系有兴趣的原因，测试你的语言能力以及问一些关于你自己的问题。在这些问题当中，他们想要了解真实的你，并且评判你的申请动机。而与申请科系相关的问题则是专业性比较强的，他们想知道你是否对此科系有足够的知识。

其实，最重要的是将你的想法有条理地说出来并且要展示自信。千万不要去回答你自己觉得大学面试官会想听到的回答，最重要的是展现你真实的自己。即使你是一位个性比较内向的人，别担心，也不是每个人都是外向的，你只需展现你自己并认真回答去展现你的热情和知识。如果你遇到了对方问比较困难的问题，不要假装自己会因此就乱回答或是沉默不语。比如说，你可以回答像是“这确实是一个比较困难的问题。请让我思考一下并且做些调查。如果可以的话，您可以给我联系方式吗？待会后我将答案发给您”之类的回答。要诚实面对并且试着反客为主。这不是说一定要你回答正确，其实面试官想看你面对困难时的反应。因此不要害怕，积极面对，并且相信自己吧！
